No, it's not a Craig's List posting... this is the real deal.
With rooms starting at just $39 bucks a night, the Strawberry Lodge is one of the cheapest, friendliest and cleanest places you can stay up Highway 50. Okay, so it's the only restaurant/hotel open year-round up 50 but still! Just past Kyburz, you'll find this majestic little lodge covered in snow. 
There are no tv's or telephones, but plenty of games and books by the fire. Keep in mind the cheapest rooms overlook the highway, so you may hear chains on tires passing by (and you share a single bathroom/shower with other residents, but it's clean!!!).
The little lodge also has an equally charming restaurant that serves home cooked meals. It's just below the world renowned Lover's Leap, and along the original Pony Express Line.

This sno-park has 14 well groomed sled runs, snow shoeing and cross country skiing. The spot was recommended by a viewer for it's affordability, snack shack (with hot dogs on the weekend) and restrooms. Next winter a new lodge will be up and running with indoor restrooms and activities for the kiddies. There is so much snow, you won't know what to do with yourself!
